I'm home from work today and I'm sitting here watching Maury. I thought the who is my baby daddy episode I just watched was awful, this is WAY worse. 2 year olds who weigh 70 lbs, 3 yr old weighs 84 lbs, it is possibly one of the saddest things I've ever seen. HOW can someone let their child get this fat? These children should be taken by the state after this episode was taped. Its just so sad.
Oh Kay
These children should be taken by the state after this episode was taped. Its just so sad.Be careful what you wish for. They did that to a couple here & it turned out the baby had a disorder that was very complex. The couple tried & tried, took the baby to Dr's, but she never felt full & was always crying for food. It's hard to say no to a baby that age. The State took the baby & the couple went on every talk show that would have them talking about her disorder & how they had done everything the Dr's asked. Eventually the baby was returned to them. I remember reading a year or so ago that she was giant. Not necessarily obese, but like 4 ft tall or something in kindergarten or first grade.

Medical explanations aside... if you just shove McDonalds in front of your kid every night, what the hell did you think was going to happen?

HOW can someone let their child get this fat? How can can someone enable this lazy person? How can someone allow this violence to their person? The list of the question you're asking in general is endless. But the answer is simple.....it gratifies me, it makes me feel special, it makes me feel important and loved to have you squeal in delight when I shove food into your mouth, or money into your account, or your fist into my stomach? It's simple...I don't like, love, respect, admire, appreciate, and require anything of me, and I will take someoone with absolutely no options/abilities or self-requirement and allow them to come to a position of total lacking in self-sufficient or options to feel important. In short - you're worth killing, it makes me feel alive.

i believe that overweight 2-3yr olds due to food consumption is a small percentage...i really feel for the parents that are going through this...a friend of mine that lives down the street actually has to put a padlock on the refrigerator door and cannot benefit from the space in her pantry...
Oh Kay
...a friend of mine that lives down the street actually has to put a padlock on the refrigerator door and cannot benefit from the space in her pantry...I think that's what the couple I was talking about had to do. It was very hard.

Human beings are animals. We're carnivores. There is no animal on earth in a survival based environment that eats to obesity by choice. If a child literally cannot stop eating or is in constant craving for food despite being physically full, there is a medical problem, and not seeking that solution is reprehensible. But, we are reliant on our parents from inception to limit or determine our intake. And if we teach an infant that it must "feel stufffed" and call that "full" - as a child is physically growing it is going to crave food. It's always seeking to feel "stuffed", rather than associating being full with lacking in appetite.I remember the day it hit me, i was 36....and I realized Oh my god, this is the first time in my life that I have ever been eating because I am truly physically hungry. I'd been doing something for 73 hours non-stop, with some food out there but not much, nd lots of stress and exertion. And I sat in that diner and thought "I am really hungry, I've never felt this before." No wonder I was so fat all those years, I thought a person had to "feel stuffed" to be full!

If a child literally cannot stop eating or is in constant craving for food despite being physically full, there is a medical problem, and not seeking that solution is reprehensible. You don't know anything about it. You don't know about the disorder or how difficult it is to keep food away from a small child that thinks it's hungry. It doesn't know any better, in it's mind, it's hungry. Even if you control their intake, other people will give in because all they know is the child thinks they're starving. My dog was overweight, I had to control her food. My neighbors started sneaking over treats...it's not all so cut & dried QB.

actually has to put a padlock on the refrigerator door and cannot benefit from the space in her pantry...Why even have the questionable food in the house. If the **** is stocked with yogurts, fruit, veggies, etc. these are healthy snacks the kids can go for.

'****' got censored!
Oh Kay
If the **** is stocked with yogurts, fruit, veggies, etc. these are healthy snacks the kids can go for. If you never feel full anything you will overeat even good foods. If you eat five yogurts you're going to put on weight. I've seen the people with the overweight kids in the grocery store. Kid about 3, sitting in the cart because he can't walk & can't fit in the baby seat....cart stocked with cakes & chips & sodas....those people disgust me. But it's easy to mistake one of those kids for one with a medical problem.
trudyML
Kay it was just examples of snacks that aren't junk food. I am not a parent but watch my family members with their cupboards stocked with fruits, veggies, etc for snacks. No processed 'Chem. cakes' as I like to call those processed cakes, cookies, etc. It's like what you went on to say about the purchasing of junk food- if it gets in the cart and in the house it is going to be eaten.

What did the parents look like? Where they just as fat?
Que_Sera_118
Most were pretty fat, and based on what they said, their children's diets definitely had some room for improvement. I understand there are medical issues sometimes, but I think those are more the exception than the rule.

I knew a girl in Cocoa Beach who's mom and her were way over weight, I'm talkin HUGE 280 plus. I had to work with the girl on a daily basis so we became friends. Once we became close i asked her why be so over weight and she told me her mom used to buy her nothing but horrible food and ice cream. The way it broke down was since her mom was fat she figured her mom wanted her overweight also so she feed her nothing but fatty foods. Finally when she hit about 22 she realized what was going on and now she weighs like 140lbs. and is really hot. Her mom looks like the mom from "what's eating gilbert Grape" and I'm not kidding. So the conclusion to my story is her mom was so disgusted with her self that she wanted to bring her lovely daughter along for the ride but home girl was smart enough to see through the bull. I talk to her at least once a week and i enjoy her input tremendously. Her being overweight and now looking like a million dollars makes her insight priceless.

I use to live up the street from a family that was well....large. My dad would and the neighbor would go on a fishing trip every year. They would stop at McDonalds for a quick bite to eat. He told my dad he was on a diet. The guy ordered like 5 Big Mac, 4 large fires and a diet Coke. My dad said to him "I thought you were on a diet?" The guy said "I am I got a diet pop."

Solo, i once saw a fat man order a double Captain and diet coke, like the diet coke is gonna make a difference with all the sugar in Captain. I just found that to be strange.

a double Captain and diet cokeHe hee. I order my latte "no fat" so I can still have the whip on it. It is a trade-off.

Kay, tell me about it, her mom mind F&$ked her own daughter. She is a stand up person because of all the **** she has been through and probably my best friend on the female side of things (she puts up with my cr@p). I could have gone into depth a bit more but i tried to keep it short and sweet.

the baby had a disorder that was very complex. The couple tried & tried, took the baby to Dr's, but she never felt full & was always crying for food.It may have been Prader-Willi Syndrome. Which of course is not the leading cause of juvenile obesity, but is incurable as it's a genetic disorder. A parent of such a child has a lifetime of care ahead of them because the child is incapable of feeling full and is always hungry for food and is also afflicted with some retardation to boot. Keeping the child away from food s/he doesn't need is an hourly battle so weight gain is inevitable as no child can be watched 24/7.

There is a flip side too this too, I know of parents that have paid their teen kids to stay thin to the point of eating disorders. It is so sad to see overweight children and as a parent it is MY job to provide healthy foods, drinks and not BUY the junk food. I have received comments from teen sitters that we have no food...SINCE when are apples, oranges, carrots, lettuce salads, yogurt, popcorn, whole grain crackers, cheese...you get the point.. NOT FOOD????? Growing up chips, pop, candy was a treat NOT a part of any everyday diet like kids and adults eat it now. I have had to realize that in my own home and leave those kinds of things at the store. I NEVER want to be that 200 plus sized thing again.

Prader-Willi syndromeFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia• Learn more about using Wikipedia for research •Jump to: navigation, searchPrader-Willi syndromeClassification & external resources ICD-10Q87.1ICD-9759.81OMIM176270DiseasesDB10481eMedicineped/1880 MeSHD011218Prader-Willi syndrome (abbreviated PWS) is a genetic disorder, in which seven genes (or some subset thereof) on chromosome 15 are missing or unexpressed (chromosome 15q partial deletion) on the paternal chromosome. It was first described in 1956 by Andrea Prader, Heinrich Willi, Alexis Labhart, Andrew Ziegler, and Guido Fanconi of Switzerland.[1] The incidence of PWS is between 1 in 12,000 and 1 in 15,000 live births. The distinction of chromosome by parental origin is due to imprinting and PWS has the sister syndrome Angelman syndrome that affects maternally imprinted genes in the region.PWS is characterized by hyperphagia and food preoccupations, as well as small stature and learning difficulties.Traditionally, PWS was diagnosed by clinical presentation. Currently, the syndrome is diagnosed through genetic testing, and is recommended for newborns with pronounced hypotonia. Early diagnosis of PWS allows for early intervention as well as the early prescription of growth hormone. Daily recombinant growth hormone (GH) injections are indicated for children with PWS. GH supports linear growth and increased muscle mass, and may lessen food preoccupation and weight gain.

I NEVER want to be that 200 plus sized thing again. It was the same in my home. We had to ask for pop, we had pizza on Sunday family time. Popcorn was something my Dad ate after we went to bed. My Mom made cookies and we had Kool Aid...no sugary cereals or junk like that. Potato Chips were had with lunch and with permission.

Hehehehe... to a British person, yes. My roommate in college was British, and when I said something like that, she started cracking up like nobody's business. When she explained why, I removed that word from my vocabulary.

Solo, i once saw a fat man order a double Captain and diet coke, like the diet coke is gonna make a difference with all the sugar in Captain. I just found that to be strange.I happen to prefer diet coke to regular, but I get you're point. You assume it's a calorie cutting thing, not a taste thing...which it very well is for alot of people. Growing up chips, pop, candy was a treat NOT a part of any everyday diet like kids and adults eat it now. Not in my house! We had cokes all the time, I would eat ding **** for breakfast, my grandparents brought us fast food once a week, and nearly a candy bar from the store everyday. Which is why I believe I don't have much of a sweet tooth. My eating habits have improved a million times since then, and I can't imagine allowing my children to eat like that as often as I did.
